Nevada Benton currently teaches Language & Literature and is an International Baccalaureate and Harvard Project Zero Coordinator at Mandela International Magnet School, a public IB school, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In addition, she facilitates MIMSTE, a group of students who teach about technology in education. Before moving to Santa Fe, she taught in Alaska for seven years; three years as a fourth grade teacher in Metlakatla, and four years as a High School Special Programs teacher in Haines, including creating and running the online learning center. Prior to this, she worked in the non-profit environmental education realm guiding rafting, rock climbing, backpacking, canoeing and sea kayaking to middle and high school students. In addition to this, she worked as a Wilderness Ranger in the Weminuche Wilderness and supported scientific research out of McMurdo Station, Antarctica for several years.
