Beyond the Textbook: Teaching with APS Digital Resources for Elementary and Middle Schools

Did you know that the New Mexico State Library and APS own several research databases that are free for your students, staff, and parents to use? Join APS Library Services as they show you how to integrate these digital resources effectively into your classroom instruction. Topics will include:

  • A brief overview of NM State Library and APS resources
  • In-depth instruction on how to access of Britannica’s social studies resource packs
  • Lesson planning with Britannica
  • Differentiation
  • Accessing Spanish language materials
  • Combining social studies and math with Culturegrams
  • An introduction to Brainfuse, the free live online tutoring resource
  • No classroom or home computers? No problem. Students and parents can access these resources on their smartphones.

Participants will learn how to access databases from on and off-campus and at home, and will receive step-by-step instructions on how to create a free Britannica Educator’s account, build and customize multimedia resource packs, and create a lesson plan.
